Keppie Design
This design project was commision for David Ross director of Keppie Design.
The design brief is to design a basement studio for a team working specifically under the direction of a design principal. The studio forms part of the whole practice but is intended to be the place where the team can focus specifically on special projects or the development of early stage design concepts.
However, there is some restrictions that may apply:
• The print room serves the whole practice, so it needs to remain.
• The toilets should not be moved.
• Lastly the spiral staircase should also stay as it connects the team with the rest of the office.
Basic User Requirements:
1. Desk space for the Design Principal.
2. Desk space for 6 team members.
3. Waiting space/ reading area for visitors or clients.
4. Model making space.
5. Design discussion area for the whole team.
6. Library
7. Wallspace for crits.
8. Filing Capability.
9. Tea coffee making area.
10. Display screens.
For this design concept there is a combination of modern and industrial concept with cool greys, blacks and a pop of yellow. The space is designed to be a composed and passive work atmosphere for the 6 designers, the interior fits well with the given brief and the clients user requirements satisfactory and a good design proposal space.
The place represent the modern with an industrial twist ambiance to the work space.
